Economist.

Anna Jacobson was born in New York City on November 11, 1915. She studied at Barnard and Columbia, receiving her master's degree in 1935 and her Ph.D. in 1964. She married Isaac Schwartz in 1936, the year she began work as a research associate at the Social Sciences Research Council at Columbia. In 1941 she became a member of the senior research staff of the National Bureau of Economic Research in New York City, where she spent the balance of her professional career, although in later years she also taught economics at several schools in New York City. She was co-author with Milton Friedman of A MONETARY HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, and with A.G. Gayer and W.W. Rostow of THE GROWTH AND FLUCTUATION OF THE BRITISH ECONOMY, 1790-1850.

Anna Jacobson Schwartz was born in the Bronx in 1915, and attended Barnard College. She initially worked for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and the Social Science Research Council, but moved to the National Bureau of Economic Research in 1941 and remained there until her death in 2012.
