Biographical History

William Attmore (1750-1800) was a merchant and shipper of Philadelphia, Pa., and New Bern, N.C., who married Sarah Sitgreaves (1771-1843) of New Bern in 1790. They had four children including a son, George Sitgreaves Attmore.

George Sitgreaves Attmore (1794-1859) was a lawyer of New Bern, N.C., who married Mary Taylor (1806-1852), daughter of Isaac and Hannah Taylor. They had seven children.

Among the children of George S. and Mary Taylor Attmore were: Hannah T. (1829-1881), who married William Hollister Oliver (1829-1908); Sarah, who married Robert S. Primrose; and Dr. George S. Attmore who married Kate Lane.
