William C. Koenig was a United States (US) Army 1st lieutenant, Coast Artillery Corps, Fort Monroe; major, Office of the Chief Purchasing Officer, Quartermaster Corps, American Expeditionary Forces (A.E.F.); lieutenant-colonel, Office of the Chief of Artillery, A.E.F.; lieutenant-colonel, captain, and major, port transportation officer and port commander for the Antwerp Base of American Forces in Germany; assistant military attaché to Germany and France; member of the American Graves Registration Service and a member of the Historical Section, Army War College.
