Biographical History

This collection contains various materials on the Seefeld family, hat manufacturers in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg until the late 1930s, and Kurt Rosenbaum, the husband of Lore Seefeld (née Freundlich). Rosenbaum changed his name to Roberts upon emigrating to the United States. He was employed by Dunhill Tobacco in Montreal and New York City after leaving Germany. The Seefelds were cofounders and partners of the hat (and later clothing) manufacturing firm Scheier and Herz.
