Biographical History
Economics professor and labor arbitrator. Harold William Davey (b. 1915) received his B.A. (1936) from Syracuse University and his M.S. (1938) and Ph. D. (1939) from Harvard University. He was employed by the Illinois Institute of Technology (1939-1942) and the National War Labor Board (1942-1945).
After the war, he returned to academia as an Assistant Professor of Public Affairs at New York University and moved to Iowa State University as an Associate Professor (1948-1949) and Professor of Economics (1950- ). Davey also continued as a labor arbitrator all over the United States, including for Deere and Company and the United Auto Workers as well as publishing extensively.
