Biographical History

Matthew J. Wayner was a professor of neurobiology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He became a faculty member with UTSA in 1983 and taught in the Biology Department until 2008.

Matthew J. Wayner was a professor of neurobiology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He became a faculty member with UTSA in 1983 and taught in the Biology Department until 2008.

Wayner received an A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1949, an M.S. from Tufts College in 1950, and a PhD from the University of Illinois in 1953. Before coming to the University of Texas at San Antonio, Wayner taught at Syracuse University from 1953-1982. During his tenure at Syracuse, he was a visiting professor at Florida State University (1963), Kanazawa University (Japan, 1967), Arizona State University (1969), La Trobe University (Australia, 1974-1975), and the National Defense Medical Center (Republic of China, 1977).

Wayner served on the editorial boards of several biology journals, serving as editor-in-chief of many of them.
