Biographical History
Joslin (Harvard, M.D. 1895) began teaching at Harvard Medical School in 1898 and was clinical professor of medicine from 1922 to 1937. He was on the staff at New England Deaconess Hospital from its founding in 1897 and was also consulting physician at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston Lying-in, and Boston City Hospital. Noted for his clinical work on diabetes, he established the Diabetes Foundation in 1953 and was active in many organizations involved in study of the disease. He developed an ambulatory in-patient clinic for diabetics at the Deaconess Hospital from which grew the present Joslin Clinic.
