Between 1970 and 1972 Dr. Hiram Haydn of the University of Pennsylvania conducted a class on the creative writing process, i.e. the needs of the individual writer, the specific writing environment, and the problems encountered during the writing process. In order to obtain information Dr. Haydn sent questionnaires to various writers, some well-known, and others University of Pennsylvania graduate students.
