Ethel Romig Fuller claimed that Oregon's natural beauty inspired her to write poetry.

Ethel Romig Fuller (1883-1965) was born in Big Rapids, Michigan and attended Ypsilanti Normal school. Romig began writing in the early 1920s. For many years she was poetry editor of the Portland Oregonian newspaper. In 1957 she was appointed Poet Laureate of Oregon by Governor Robert D. Holmes.
