Biographical History

Herbert S. Parmet was born on September 28, 1929 in New York, New York. He received a B.S. from State University of New York in 1951, and M.A. from Queens College in 1957; and completed post-graduate work at Columbia University from 1958 to 1962. He was a professor of history at the Graduate School of City University of New York (CUNY), 1968 to 1995, and professor emeritus of the City University of New York in 1995. He also served as a consultant to ABC-TV in New York, 1983; KERA-TV in Dallas, 1986 to 1991, and WGBH-TV in Boston, 1988 to 1991. Parmet was the author of several books on former presidents, including Eisenhower and the American Crusades, 1972.
