Biographical History
Leven, a specialist in urban and regional economics, worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago from 1949-1956. He taught at several universities from 1957-1965, and in 1965 became director of the Institute for Urban and Regional Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. At Washington University, Leven served as the chairman of the economics department, and in 1991 was named a distinguished professor of public policy.
