Marion Holland was born in Washington, DC in 1908. She graduated from Swarthmore College, married and had children. Her career was as an author and illustrator of children's books. She died from cancer in Washington in 1989. Biographical sources: Something About the Author, vol. 6 and 61.
Marion Holland began illustrating for a children's magazine, and went on to writing at her editor's suggestion. Most of her books are self-illustrated. She was awarded the Boys' Club of America Junior Book Award for "Billy's Clubhouse."
