Biographical History

Bill Minor was born in 1922 and spent his childhood moving between Louisiana and Mississippi with his family. While still in high school, Minor developed a relationship with the editor of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, and after World War II, he became bureau chief of the newspaper's Jackson office. In 1976, he purchased his own newspaper, the Capital Reporter. After he closed the paper's office in the early 1980s, he wrote a syndiated column from Jackson and won the first John Chancellor Award for Excellence in Journalism.
