Biographical History
Corporation which operates the Cleveland Indians baseball team.
The Cleveland Baseball Company operates the Cleveland Indians baseball team, one of the original teams that founded the American League in 1901. The team played in League Park at East 65th and Lexington Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving completely to Cleveland Municipal Stadium in the 1946 season. The team was briefly (1946-1949) owned by baseball entrepreneur Bill Veeck, who laid the framework for a successful decade of Indians baseball. In 1954, the team won the pennant and set a record for most victories in a season--111. Since the 1960s, the team has struggled to be a contender. In 1986, shopping mall tycoons Richard and David Jacobs bought the team.
