Consider A. Stacy (1817-1888) was a prominent lawyer in Tecumseh (Mich.), Judge of the Probate Court, Justice of the Peace, Prosecuting Attorney, Post Master, member of the School Board, and served on the State Board of Education. His son Scovel C. Stacy (1841-1895) graduated from the UM classical studies program (1864) and Law Dept. (1868). He was admitted to the bar in Lenawee Co. (1868) and U.S. Circuit Court of Detroit (1870). He worked as his father's partner for several years and then purchased the Tecumseh Herald, Addison Courier, and Britton Eagle newspapers. Scovel was recognized by his peers as a leading journalist of southern Mich. He also served as Justice of the Peace, and School Board Trustee and Supervisor. Consider's daughter, L. Loana Stacy (1845-1916) attended St. Mary's College (Ind.) and was appointed Post Master of Tecumseh 1888, upon Consider's death. Another of Consider's sons, James A. Stacy (1853-1881), also studied at the UM Literary Dept. (1874-1875) and graduated from the Law Dept. (1878). He was admitted to the Lenawee Co. bar, elected City Attorney (1878-1879) and Mayor (1880). Other siblings, Alphonzo D. (1850-1876) and George N. (1859-1907) Stacy, were also involved with the Tecumseh Herald. Their mother was Maria M. Stacy. All the Stacys were active in the Universalist Church (Tecumseh, Mich.).
