Biographical History

Arthur Obermayer was chairman of the Newton Coalition for New Politics in Newton, Massachusetts during the Vietnam War era. The Coalition consisted of professionals active in community affairs who worked to promote the Vietnam Moratoriums in Boston in 1969 and 1970. As President of Moleculon Research Corporation, which had performed secret work for the U.S. Department of Defense and the Atomic Energy Commission, he was concerned "when defense money is squandered and used for needless programs because no one in Congress exercises adequate control over military spending."
