Biographical History

The Consolidated Convoy Company was established in 1930 as a subsidiary of Consolidated Truck Lines, later known as Consolidated Freightways. Originally headquartered in Portland, Or., its specialty was the shipment of automobiles by truck. In 1941, the company became an independent organization, and its name was changed to the Convoy Company. The company closed down for the duration of World War II because new automobiles were not produced. Operations resumed after the war with large government contracts, and the company established terminals throughout the West. The Convoy Company was sold during the early 1990s and ceased to exist as an independent business.
