Professor of Chemistry.
Traill Green was born in Easton, Pa., on 25 May 1813. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1835. He practiced medicine for less than a year then returned to Easton to teach chemistry at Lafayette College.
In 1841, Green accepted a position to teach the natural sciences at Marshall College in Mercersburg, Pa. He returned to Easton in 1848 as Chair of the Chemistry Department of Lafayette College and opened a private practice in Easton. Green was made Dean of the Scientific Department of Lafayette College in 1869 and became a Trustee of the college in 1882.
Green was the founder of the Medical Society of Northampton County and president of the Medical Society of the State of Pennsylvania and the American Academy of Medicine. In 1876, he was elected an Associate Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Traill Green died on 29 Apr. 1897.
