James Montgomery Flagg (b. June 18, 1877, Pelham Manor, N.Y.-d. May 27, 1960, New York City), American artist and illustrator, worked in media ranging from fine art painting to cartooning. He is best remembered for political posters, such as the Uncle Sam recruitment poster.

He was the creator of the now-famous recruiting poster showing a top-hatted Uncle Sam pointing at the viewer, with the words "I want YOU."
