Biographical History
Head of Brooklyn Heights Female Seminary (1860-1889) and a founder of the Long Island Historical Society.
Charles E. West was a member of the American Numismatic and Archaeological Society. From 1860-1889, he directed the Brooklyn Heights Female Seminary. He also served as the principal at the Buffalo Female Academy. West was a founder of the Long Island Historical Society.
Elias Lewis, Jr. (1820-1894) was born in the Long Island town of Westbury, and relocated to Brooklyn in 1853, where he worked in business and finance. He was later Secretary of the Long Island Historical Society (now the Brooklyn Historical Society).
Charles E. West (1809-1900) was the head of the Brooklyn Heights Seminary and a prominent member of the Long Island Historical Society.
