Biographical History

Ernest "Pop" Stoneman (1893-1968) was an Appalachian writer and artist. His composition "Sinking of the Titanic" rose to number three on the Variety Charts in 1925. He learned to sing in his father's church near the Iron Ridge, Va. His daughter Patsy Stoneman Murphy also performs on the autoharp, Jew's harp, and guitar.
