Native of Cowpens, S.C.; 1917 graduate of Wofford College, Spartanburg, S.C.; proprietor of R.H. Moore General Merchandise, a general store specializing in country produce, fertilizers, and feeds, at Mayo in northeast Spartanburg County, S.C., 1920-1953; father of Richter H. Moore Jr. (1928-1996), who attended University of South Carolina during late 1940s and taught at East Tennessee State and Appalachian State College for more than forty years.
