Biographical History
Harry or Alexander as he was born, was one of five sons and a daughter. He attended King Street and later Central School, leaving to work as an insurance clerk. His first public appearance was probably on the stage of Gilcomston Parish Church at the age of 12 when he appeared as Princess Chrysanthemum. Aberdonian Harry Gordon was a major star of variety and pantomime from the 1920s-1950s and ran his own theatre, the Aberdeen Beach Pavilion for fourteen years. Gordon played in all the main theatres in Scotland and also appeared at the London Palladium in 1929 . He is perhaps best remembered for his Laird o' Inversnecky routine, which he performed on stage and radio.
