Biographical History
George E. Vincent was born in Rockford, Illinois. He was associated with the Chautauqua system from 1886 to 1915, and became honorary president of Chautauqua from 1915 to 1937. In addition, he taught at the University of Chicago from 1892 to 1911, and served as Dean of the University of Chicago Faculties of Art, Literature and Science from 1907 to 1911. He was president of the University of Minnesota from 1911 to 1917, leaving to become president of the Rockefeller Foundation from 1917 until 1929, when he retired.
Georeg E. Vincent was a member of the General Educaiton Board (1914-1929), president of The Rockefeller Foundation (1917-1929), trustee of the Peking Union Medical College (1917-1929), and a member of the China Medical Board of New York, inc. (1930-1938).
