Biographical History

Charles O. Farciot was born in Corgemont, Switzerland in 1840. He became a United States citizen in 1858. Farciot was an inventor, steamship engineer, and photographer. Farciot operated photography studios in Arizona where he met the successful miner Ed Schieffelin. He came to Alaska in 1882 with a gold prospecting party from Arizona led by Schieffelin. Though the latter left in 1883, Farciot remained in Alaska working as a steamship engineer on the Yukon River until at least 1886. After leaving Alaska, Farciot started a photographic studio in San Francisco.
