Biographical History

Robert Baird served aboard the escort ship HMS Bentinck during its World War II service in the North Atlantic. The Bentinck, originally the USS Bull, was built in Hingham, Massachusetts, and was transferred to the Royal Navy in 1943. In January 1946, the British returned the ship to the United States government, and it was sold in May of that year.
