Samuel Chenery Domon was editor of "The Friend," a serial devoted to temperance and mariners, from 1845 to 1884.
Samuel Chenery Damon (1815-1885) graduated from Amherst College in 1836 and Princeton Seminary in 1838. He was ordained to the Congregational ministry in 1841 and served as a missionary to Hawaii for the American Seamen's Friend Society from 1841 until his death. He pastored the Bethel Union Church, Seamen's Chapel ( Honolulu) for 42 years, and was the editor and publisher of The Friend from 1843 to 1884.
