Biographical History

Annie Dick was born in Glasgow in 1910. She first matriculated in September 1929 and studied French, Latin and History in session 1929-1930. In her second year (1930-1931) she studied English and Moral Philosophy and in third year (1931-1932) English and British History. In fourth year (1932-1933) she continued with her English studies and in a fifth year (1933-1934) specialised in English Language and Literature. She returned for a sixth year studying English and Anglo-Saxon and graduated in November 1935 with an MA in English Language and Literature. While at University she received one of the John Clark (Mile-End) bursaries as well as prizes in Latin and French in the 1929-1930 session; English and Moral Philosophy in 1930-1931; and English Language in the 1932-1933 and 1934-1935 sessions. She died in 2000 following a career in teaching.
