Biographical History
Paul E.X. Brown (1910-2007), African American radio broadcaster and businessman from Atlanta, Georgia. He received his AB degree from Columbia College in Chicago. In the 1940s Brown moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to accept an editorial position with the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Georgia. He became an announcer for the WEAS radio station where he hosted "Hi Neighbor" on Saturday mornings. Brown also broadcasted on WERD in Atlanta and WEDR in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1957 he established WADK radio's news department. In the 1960s Brown worked in the public relations department of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, retiring in 1975. Brown was a member of the Adelphi Club, the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order of the Noble Mystic Shrine., Frontiers of America, and numerous other Atlanta community organizations. He also served as the executive director of the National Association of Market Developers. note
Paul E. X. Brown (1910- ) began announcing for WEAS radio station in Decatur, Georgia in 1947 and in 1949 became a part-time announcer for WERD, Atlanta's first African American owned and operated radio station. He was also involved in the community in many social and fraternal organizations and established the Gospel Fund as a means to eliminate the unfair treatment of African Americans who had become victims of the judicial system of Atlanta.
