Continental Army officer, jurist, merchant, and legislator, of Delaware County, N.Y.
Soldier in the American Revolution, Ulster County, N.Y. politician and Delaware County, N.Y. official. Member of the N.Y. State legislature.
Born in Colchester, Conn., 1756; married Jerusha Purdy; served at Bunker Hill and other battles; taken prisoner and escaped by swimming Hudson; in Commissary Dept. at Fishkill in 1780. Died in Delhi, New York,1829. (from D.A.R. Lineage Book.)
