Biographical History

Metallurgist and steel company executive.

Michael Tenenbaum was born on July 23, 1914, at St. Paul, Minn., and received his Ph.D. in metallurgy and physical chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1940. Tenenbaum then joined the Inland Steel Company, where he spent his entire career. He was named General Manager of Research & Quality Control in 1961, Vice President of Research in 1966, Vice President of Steel Manufacturing in 1968, and was President from 1971 to 1978. Tenenbaum was a prolific writer of technical articles on the metallurgy and chemistry of steel and later on the problems faced by the American steel industry in the 1970s.
