Biographical History

The Southwestern Region was created on March 1, 1920, from part of the Southwest System of the former Lines West organization. It comprised that portion of the Pennsylvania Railroad between Columbus and St. Louis, and was divided into the Central Ohio and Indiana Grand Divisions. The headquarters of the Southwestern Region was located in St. Louis. The Southwestern Region was merged with the Northwestern Region to create the Western Region on June 1, 1925. The General Manager was the line officer of the Operating Dept. at the regional level.
