Biographical History

David A. Schorr was born in New Orleans on August 4, 1944. He attended Louisiana State University from 1961 to 1965, where he participated in ROTC and the Arnold Air Society. He was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force in 1965 and stationed at Truax Field in Madison, Wis., and Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. Schorr began working for IBM in 1969 as an associated programmer at Kansas City Air Traffic Control Center, assisting in the development of the FAA's Air Control Automation Project. He left IBM in 1981 to work for Lockheed Corporation at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Tex. Schorr was a computer programmer for the FAA in Minneapolis, Minn., between 1982 and 1986. He was employed at the Houston Air Traffic Control System at the time of the interview.
