Biographical History
A peace activist in New England, Cynthia Rich was a member of Voice of Women--New England, a group formed in 1961 to work "toward the goal of a world without war" by focusing on such issues as war toys, atmospheric nuclear testing, civil defense, and foreign policy decisions; it attempted to influence politicians and others through letters, speeches, peace demonstrations, and educational programs. In 1965-1968 Rich represented VOW-NE at Coalition Politics, an organization designed to facilitate exchange of information among peace groups in New England.
Cynthia Rich (1933- ) and Barbara Macdonald (1913-2000) were writers, activists in lesbian feminist politics, and partners for 26 years. For a more detailed biography, see the finding aid for the Papers of Cynthia Rich and Barbara Macdonald, MC 505.
