Rollo Gabriel Silver, historian of American printing; author of Typefounding in America, 1787-1825 (1965), The American printer, 1787-1825 (1967), and (with Hellmut Lehmann-Haupt and Lawrence C. Wroth), The book in America (2nd ed., 1951), as well as numerous articles published in Studies in bibliography, Papers of the Bibliographical Society of America, and elsewhere. Graduate of Brown University, Class of 1931; professor of library science, Simmons College, 1950-1965.
