Biographical History

John C. Lloyd (1796-1881), originally from Erie, Pennsylvania moved to Belleville, New Jersey with his young son, Aaron (1817-1905). He opened a tailor shop on Main Street in Belleville, and later was a Justice of Peace for Essex County (1833-1855) and a member of the Belleville Town Committee (1839). On May 19, 1824, John C. Lloyd married Belleville resident Harriet Joralemon, the daughter of Abraham Joralemon, who was presumably his second wife.
