From the opera in 3 acts with libretto by Peggy Oppenlander about the founding father of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia. Composed 1955-65; totally revised 1972-1973. First performance Philadelphia, 14 November 1975, Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, Sidney Rothstein conductor.
