Biographical History

Leo Wyatt was an English engraver and calligrapher. Born in 1909, he was raised in an orphanage. He moved to Cape Town, South Africa in 1947 to improve his daughter Elizabeth's health. He moved back to England in 1961 so he could realize his potential as a professional engraver. Wyatt gained fame as a bookplate engraver both in England and the United States of America. Among many others, he created bookplates for the Boston Athenaeum. The largest portion of the Leo Wyatt archive is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
