Biographical History

Biographical Note: Jan Michael Minkowski was a professor of electrical engineering, The Johns Hopkins University, 1961-1987.

He was born in Zurich, Switzerland, March 7, 1916 and spent his early years in Warsaw Poland. He was admitted to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (E.T.H.) in 1946. In 1951, Minkowski joined the Radiation Laboratory (later the Carlyle Barton Laboratory) of The Johns Hopkins University which did research for the U.S. Air Force. He received his Ph. D at Hopkins in 1963. He was appointed associate professor in 1962, professor in 1981, and Professor Emeritus at his retirement in 1987. Minkowski was the owner of 7 patents and the author of more that 30 journal articles. Jan Michael Minkowski died February 5, 1991.
