Biographical History

New Zealand born opera singer who gained international acclaim during the 1940s and 1950s. After her retirement in 1965 she taught singing at the Victorian College of the Arts and was Artistic Director of the Victorian Opera Company, 1971-76. Hammond was also a talented golfer who was three times New South Wales ladies golf champion.
