Biographical History

Chester W. Cecil (b. 1912, Crowell, Tex.-d. Sept. 15, 1996), U.S. Air Force officer and pilot, completed flying school and received his commission in 1936. He later studied meteorology at M.I.T., supervised weather stations and flew with the 27th Reconnaissance Squadron in Puerto Rico, and in 1942 became weather officer for the 6th Air Force in the Panama Canal Zone. In 1945 he served as weather officer for the Army Air Forces in the Mediterranean Theater. After the War, General Cecil served in various positions including assistant chief of staff, comptroller, at Air Force Headquarters in Europe and director of Management Analysis Service at Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He was assigned later to Headquarters, Pacific Air Forces, and as comptroller, Headquarters Air Force Logistics Command. Holder of the Bronze Star, he was rated a command pilot. He retired from Air force service in November 1967.
