Harrison, H. C. A. (Henry Colden Antill), 1836-1929

Born at Picton in New South Wales on October 16th, 1836, Harrison started work at the Customs Department in Melbourne in 1853. His first known involvement in a football match was as captain of Melbourne in a scratch match in September 1861. After transferring to the Geelong Customs Office and captaining Geelong in 1862, he returned to Melbourne and was club captain until he retired as a player in 1872. In 1884 he spent a year's long service leave in England attempting to establish Australian Football. He published his autobiography in 1923 and died on September 2nd, 1929, aged 92. He is generally credited with being "Father of the game" in relation to Australian Rules Football.
