Biographical History
Born on June 29, 1903 in Ishpeming, Michigan, John Donaldson Voelker was an author, fisherman, lawyer, prosecuting attorney, and jurist. Voelker served as the prosecuting attorney of Marquette County, Michigan from 1935-1942 and 1945-1950; and associate justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, 1957-1960. He and his wife Grace had four children: Robert, who died at the age of eighteen months, Elizabeth, Julie, and Gracie. Voelker publisher 11 books and approximately 100 stories, articles, essays, and reviews under his own name and the pen name Robert Traver during his life. He died on March 18, 1991.
