H.; professor of Mathematics, Bethel College, Russellville, Ky.; professor of English Literature, Clemson University; Assistant U.S. Attorney for S.C., 1886-1889; 1859 graduate of Furman University; son of Furman University founder, Rev. James Clement Furman (1809-1891) and Harriet E. Davis Furman; married, 1864, to Frances Emma Garden Furman (d. 1883), and, 1887, to Sallie Villipigue.
