James Frothingham Hunnewell (1832-1910) was the son of Captain James Hunnewell (1794-1869) and Susan Lamson Hunnewell of Charlestown, Massachusetts. His father was the founder of C. Brewer & Co., an international trading business. Hunnewell was a member of his father's business but also was a major New England antiquarian and collector of rare books.
James Frothingham Hunnewell (1832-1910) was born and died in Charlestown, Mass. He was a merchant, book collector, and author of: Bibliography of Charlestown, Mass., and Bunker Hill...(Boston, 1880); A Century of Town Life: A History of Charlestown, Mass., 1775-1887...(Boston, 1888); The Historical Monuments of France (Boston, 1884); Illustrated Americana, 1493-1889 ([Worcester] 1890); The Imperial Island: England's Chronicle in Stone (Boston, 1886); and many other books and articles.
