Biographical History

George Alexis Kellogg was born in Brooklyn, New York, March 7, 1916. He received his B.A. and B.S.L.S. degrees from Columbia University in 1940 and 1941 respectively, and his M.A. from Yale in 1947. On July 3, 1940 he married Ruth E. Heningham; they had two children. From 1940 to 1943 he was a librarian at Columbia University. He then served in World War II as a Marine Corps sergeant. During the years 1947 to 1950 he taught English at Lafayette College and Queens College. He returned to the library field and was a librarian at Yale University for seven years. In 1957 he became Humanities Librarian at the University of Idaho where he remained until his death on April 10, 1970.
