Epithet: Creator of Mss Eur D162
In 1844 the construction of the Chester and Holyhead Railway was authorised in order to speed up communication between London and Ireland. As a result, Holyhead grew into an important port. Previously, proposals had been made for the railway route to go from Bangor to Porth Dinllaen.
