Physician, Hospital administrator.
Born in Henderson, Kentucky, Rash attended Louisville Medical College from 1894 to 1896. In 1897, he graduated from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in New York. Following a stint of private practice in partnership with Dr. Robert L. Bone in Madisonville, Kentucky, Dr. Rash joined the Army as a surgeon and served in the Philippines (1899-1900). He then returned to Kentucky and opened a general practice of medicine and surgery in Owensboro where he spent the remainder of his career.
Dr. Rash served as Chief of Staff at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital for eleven years. He also occupied the position of Chief of Staff of Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Owensboro (1949-1952). Recognized as one of the first doctors in Kentucky to use radium as a treatment for disease, he was also cited by the Kentucky Medical Association in 1964 as the doctor who had been in practice longer than any other in Kentucky.
