Trinity Lutheran Church (Freeland, Wash.)

Trinity Lutheran began as a Sunday School on November 2, 1952 in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Freeland under the direction of Rev. A. L. S. Mathre from St. Peter’s Lutheran of Clinton, Washington. The community response as good and Sunday worship services were begun. In the fall of 1953 a large adult class was started and on November 1, 1953 a large adult class was started and on November 1, 1953 Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized with 37 charter members. The need for a building was pressing and every effort was put forth to obtain a site. Mr. Austin Marshall donated the present site, and groundbreaking ceremonies were held on February 28, 1954. Contributions from the community and elsewhere made it possible to begin building the church in the spring of 1955. The congregation began using the unfinished church in the spring of 1956, and dedication occurred May 25, 1958. On February 19, 1976 Trinity voted to separate from St. Peter’s and to call its own full-time pastor.
