Biographical History

Committee was appointed at October 1840 General Conference to oversee construction of Nauvoo Temple. Original committee members were Alpheus Cutler, Reynolds Cahoon, and Elias Higbee. Hyrum Smith became committee member after Higbee's death in 1843. Committee received tithing and donations directly from Church members until establishment of Trustee in Trust in 1841.
